Delivery Formats

  • In-person classes must be attended in person. There is no option for participants to attend these classes via Zoom.

In-person classes are held in Vancouver. Members and Permittees living outside the Lower Mainland may be eligible for the 50% travel expense reimbursement.

At least one session per year of each upgrade course is held via Zoom to accommodate Members living outside the Lower Mainland. However, if only one session of an upgrade course is offered in a year, it may be held in person only. The Art of Setting Background course is exempt from this rule, as it is offered in person only.

  • Course materials are provided digitally, usually through the DGC BC training website or Dropbox.

  • Instructions for accessing the course materials will be emailed to registrants prior to the class.

  • The DGC BC is striving for greater sustainability and will not provide any printed materials.

  • Courses may require work to be completed prior to attending the first class or homework to be completed throughout the course. Please read all email communications from the DGC BC to ensure you do not miss any important coursework.

  • The DGC BC reserves the right to delete inactive user accounts on the training website at any time without notice.

Policies

Course Completion
To receive course credit, participants must attend all classes for the entire duration and successfully complete all assignments. Attendance is mandatory for all classes.

Late Policy
Any attendee more than 15 minutes late to a class will not be allowed into the class and must reschedule the next time the course is offered.

Zoom Policy
Your video must be on and you must be visible during the full duration of the course. Join the course from a quiet, distraction-free location. Do not join the class from work, while driving in your car, while at an appointment, or from any other location that will divert your attention away from the class and/or distract others.

Missed Day Policy
Missing any day of a course will require an automatic redo of the entire course at another time. No credit will be given for any previously completed days or assignments. At the next course registration, individuals will pay the full cost of the course again, and they will be responsible for registering themselves. Exceptions can be made by the Executive Board on a case-by-case basis due to extraordinary circumstances with supporting documentation.

Severe Weather Policy
If an unexpected severe weather event prevents a participant from attending an in-person class, their course fee (excluding any Eventbrite fees) will be reimbursed. To qualify for the reimbursement, participants must email the DGC BC Training Coordinator at training@dgcbc.com on the day of the class or the immediate day after to request the refund. Requests submitted beyond this timeframe will not be eligible for reimbursement.

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) Policy
Students are prohibited from presenting content generated by artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools as their own work in DGC BC courses. This includes summaries, paraphrases, and direct quotes from such tools. All course activities, including assignments, quizzes, and exams, must be completed without the use of GenAI tools, such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, or LLaMA. The only exception is the use of spelling and grammar suggestions provided by tools like Microsoft Word, Grammarly, or other word-processing software.

Exams, Quizzes, Assignments
All exams, quizzes and assignments are mandatory, unless otherwise indicated. Late assignments will not be accepted, unless there are mitigating circumstances. Your submitted assignments and responses on exams and quizzes must be a true representation of your own learning and knowledge.
