The prerequisites for the Assistant Director and Location Management DGC BC courses ensure that all attendees have a similar level of knowledge and experience, creating an enriched learning environment.

Assistant Director Course Prerequisites
1st Assistant Director Course Prerequisites
- Full Members in the 2nd Assistant Director job category
2nd Assistant Director Course Prerequisites
- Full Members in the 3rd Assistant Director job category
3rd Assistant Director Course Prerequisites
Must meet one of the following criteria:
- Associate Members who have completed the TAD course; or
- Associate Members who have worked 20 or more days as a TAD on a DGC BC signatory production; or
- Associate Members who have worked 20 or more days in an Assistant Director category (1st AD, 2nd AD, 3rd AD, or AAD-BKC) on a DGC BC signatory production.
Invitation Procedures for Assistant Director Courses
Invitations to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Assistant Director courses will be emailed approximately 4 weeks before the course to only those Members who meet the prerequisites. Invitations will be administered through Eventbrite.
Apply to Attend an Assistant Director Course
If you do not meet the prerequisites but feel you have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills for the course through other, non-DGC, projects, you may apply to attend the course. Courses that do not fill will be announced in the Friday E-Bulletin and will include a link to the AD application.
Applications will be anonymized and forwarded to the course instructor and Assistant Director Caucus Advisory Committee for evaluation. If space is available in the course, successful applicants will be invited to attend at the discretion of the course instructor and the Advisory Committee.

- Watch for the course to be advertised in the E-Bulletin.
- Take note of the application deadline indicated in the E-Bulletin.
- Complete the AD course application.
- Email your completed AD course application and any supporting documents you would like to include to training@dgcbc.com.

Location Management Course Prerequisites
Effective January 1, 2025
Location Manager Course Prerequisites
- Members must have worked a minimum of 100 days as an Assistant Location Manager or Location Manager.
Members who do not meet this prerequisite may submit a request to attend, which will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Locations Caucus Advisory Committee.
Assistant Location Manager Course Prerequisites
- Associate Members who have completed the Trainee Assistant Location Manager (TAL) course.
Members who do not meet this prerequisite but have worked at least 30 days as a TAL, ALM or LM may apply by submitting a letter of recommendation from a Full Member ALM or LM.
