3rd Assistant Director (3rd AD)
Required to upgrade to 3rd Assistant Director.
DURATION: 3 days
FORMATS OFFERED: Zoom only or hybrid (2 days in-person with 1 day on Zoom)
PREREQUISITES: Associate Members in Good Standing who meet at least one of the following criteria may attend this course:
- Completed the DGC BC TAD course; or
- Worked 20 or more days as a TAD on DGC BC Signatory Productions; or
- Worked 20 or more days in the AAD-BKC, 3rd, 2nd, or 1st AD category on DGC BC Signatory Productions.
Description
This course covers the responsibilities and duties of the 3rd Assistant Director (3rd AD). Participants will study film union contracts, receive practical hands-on training for all 3rd AD paperwork, and learn how to manage the cast and crew at the Circus.
Assignment
- This course includes two mandatory homework assignments that must be successfully completed to earn credit.
Supplemental Information
- The Day 3 class is always held on Zoom.
- A working knowledge of basic Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
Course Materials
- Materials will be provided online through the DGC BC training website.
Technical Requirements
- A laptop with Microsoft Excel and Word installed.
- An internet connection to access course materials and participate in the Zoom classes.
- Zoom classes require a computer with a functioning webcam, microphone, and a stable internet connection.
Registration
- Registration is by invitation only through Eventbrite for Members who meet the prerequisites.
- If space is available, the course will be advertised in the E-bulletin. Members who do not meet the prerequisites may apply, subject to approval by the 3rd AD instructor and the AD Caucus Advisory Committee.
