Raymond is a member of The Visual Effects Society in LA. He is on the Visual Effects Society Toronto Section Board of Managers serving as VES Section Treasurer. He chairs VES studio screenings. Ray is a member of I.A.T.S.E. Camera local 667 as a Director of Photography. He is a member of the Directors Guild of Canada as a Visual Effects Supervisor and a member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science. Ray is an American citizen with permanent residence in Canada. Raymond started as a classicly trained animator who worked at Childrens Television Workshop in NYC. From CTW and series work moved into visual effects with commercials adding traditional & CG animation and Vfx to live action. Supervising blue & green screen shoots, stop motion, motion control and special effects. Ray started doing Vfx work on several features and series while doing commercials. His move to long format was when Raymond was hired by Columbia Pictures to be the Vfx Supervisor and Vfx Producer on the Academy Award nominated film Fly Away Home. Since then Ray has worked in long format visual effects on feature films and series all across the US and Canada and the World. Working directly with the studio or network and with other vfx supervisors and vfx facilities. Raymond was Vfx supervisor on the Apple + series Jane. It premiered on Apple + in April 2023. Each episode has 2 or more realistic CG characters. The Jane series shot in studio with locations all around Toronto, as well as locations in the mountains of Alberta, Costa Rica, Mexico, LA, Catalina Island and Kenya. 45 days on locations outside of Toronto. Jane Season 1 won the 2023 Children’s Emmy Award for Outstanding Visual Effects for a Live Action Program. Season 2 of Jane premiered on April 19th 2024. Jane Season 2 is nomiated for a 2024 Children’s Emmy Award. Ray was the 2nd unit Director of Photography and Vfx process supervisor on the feature Life with Luca: The Movie for Shaftesbury Productions. In October of 2023 Raymond was awarded the title of VES Fellow by the Visual Effects Society in Los Angeles. In June of 2024 Ray was accepted as a member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science Visual Effects section. Raymond taught a Visual Effects course part time at Sheridan College semester 1 - September to December 2023, and semester - 2 & 3 January to June 2024. Ray has worked in all aspects of studio & location live action production, visual and special effects, post production and animation.
