Giovanna Morales Vargas is an award-winning writer/director and a journalist originally from Colombia, currently based out of Vancouver BC. Driven to highlight underrepresented communities through visual storytelling as a Latinx filmmaker, and advance women’s creative roles in media. Giovanna's writing feature and directorial debut, A Perfect 14 (2020), screened at film festivals around the world, earning her the Storyteller Award at the Women Texas Film Festival. The film also won five top non-fiction awards, including Best Documentary at the Twin Cities Film Festival, where it showed alongside Academy Award-winning and nominated films. After a very successful festival run, A Perfect 14 was picked up for worldwide distribution by Gravitas Ventures, and it's currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video, where it was the #6 most watched documentary in Canada for several weeks after its release. Giovanna is now writing her second feature length documentary, and developing her first narrative feature.
