Budreau wrote, directed and produced BORN TO BE BLUE (Eone/Universal), a music biopic about 1950s-60s jazz legend Chet Baker starring Ethan Hawke. It earned rave reviews and opened as the top specialty title at the US box office. Film festivals included TIFF, San Sebastian, SXSW, Tokyo, Shanghai and Deauville and Robert was nominated for a DGC award. His next feature was the 70s romantic crime caper STOCKHOLM (Eone) also starring Ethan Hawke, Noomi Rapace and Mark Strong. He won the DGC award and a Canadian Screen Award for best screenplay with festivals including Tribeca and Santa Barbara. Budreau was DGC-nominated again for DELIA’S GONE (Eone/Vertical) starring Oscar-winner Marisa Tomei, Golden Globe-winner Paul Walter Hauser, Travis Fimmel and Stephan James. His latest feature QUEEN OF BONES (Vertical, Aug 2025) is a 1930s folk horror with Appian Way starring Martin Freeman, Julia Butters, Jacob Trembley and Taylor Schilling. In TV, Budreau recently directed and executive produced all six episodes of the original crime-drama series UNDERBELLY (Fifth Season) for Shaftesbury, starring Stephen Amell, Minnie Driver and Hamza Haq.
