Nika Belianina is a film director who works in both narrative and documentary realms. Her directing credits include several episodes of the "Fear Thy Neighbor" true-crime series, a dirty dozen of short films, music videos and documentaries. She wrote/directed "Paradox" (CBC Gem) using Pixomondo's Volume Wall. Nika sprinkles magical realism when possible and loves working in comedies and grounded sci-fi. Her short doc "The River of the Kukamas" played worldwide and at such festivals as Tribeca, Sheffield Doc/Fest and Planet in Focus. Her short comedy "The Robbery" was best of fest at Sudbury Film Fest. Nika's feature doc "Eccentric Eclectic", produced by Clark Johnson (The Wire, Homeland) has screened across three continents and is about experimental music and sound art. A Women In Director's Chair alumnae, Belianina is a recipient of the Yorkton Emerging Filmmaker fellowship, a WIFT BANFF scholarship and of several international artist residencies. She moonlights as a fine art photographer who runs Curious Captures Photo studio in Toronto. Nika has an MA in social psychology and spent over 15 years working as crew in lighting, camera and props departments prior to joining the DGC. She is currently pursuing scripted projects.
