DAVID HACKL – DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY

DAVID HACKL has spent 30 years working as a Director, Executive Producer, Writer and Production Designer, in feature films, television, commercials and music videos.
David is most famous for his work on the SAW franchise. As production designer and 2nd Unit director on SAW II, SAW III, and SAW IV, he helped establish Jigsaw’s dark world, making it one of the most successful horror franchises in history. In 2008 David directed, SAW V for a worldwide gross of $113M, was Visual Consultant on SAW VI (2009) and a year later co-directed SAW 3D. In 2019 David was once again the visual consultant, for SPIRAL starring Chris rock and Samuel L. Jackson.
In 2013, David directed the action thriller INTO THE GRIZZLY MAZE, starring James Marsden, Thomas Jane, Piper Perabo, Scott Glenn and Billy Bob Thornton, and Bart the Bear.
David’s next feature was LIFE ON THE LINE, starring John Travolta, Kate Bosworth, Devon Sawa and Sharon Stone and was distributed through Lionsgate Premier.
In 2019 he directed the feature film DAUGHTER OF THE WOLF starring Gina Carano, Richard Dreyfuss, Brendan Fehr and a pack of 13 wolves.
David’s most recent film, DANGEROUS, stars Scott Eastwood, Tyrese Gibson, Famke Janssen, Kevin Durand and Mel Gibson for Lionsgate.
