Sam MacAdam is an award-winning Guyanese-Canadian narrative filmmaker, with a focus on comedy and horror. Some of her career highlights include; her comedic short premiering at Just for Laughs and becoming a top 5 finalist in Kevin Hart’s LOL Showcase, the selection of her one-hour pilot, The Murder Castle, for the Netflix-Banff Diversity of Voices Initiative. Her feature comedy screenplay Prom Night, selected (still in the running) for the MACRO x The Black List Feature Screenwriter Incubator, in partnership with Warner Bros. and the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival’s Big Pitch Event and most recently, Sam directed on two CBC Gem web series, True Dating Stories (one episode) and Aden Abebe’s (comedy/coming of age drama) virgins! (The pilot, along with a few other episodes), Sam was also a recipient of an ISO Solidarity Fund, from which she is directing her first thriller/horror (short film) this fall, The Horrible History of Harriet Jones — a movie that was birthed from true-crime stories that took place in Georgetown, Guyana. Attached as executive producers are Clique Pictures’ Lauren Grant (Sugar Daddy/The Retreat) and C'mon Mort Productions' Ashleigh Rains (Canadian Strain) and the short stars Jessica Salgueiro (The Boys) this project was also selected for ACTRA TO Diversity & Inclusion's Working the Scene in Colour initiative.
