Renuka Jeyapalan is a Toronto-based writer/director and graduate of the Canadian Film Centre’s Director’s Lab. Her Genie-nominated short film BIG GIRL ('05) screened at the Berlinale, Tribeca Film Festival, and TIFF, where it was awarded Best Short Film. Her other short films include ARRANGED ('14), which she made for TMN, Movie Central, and the Harold Greenberg Fund, A BICYCLE LESSON('16), a finalist on CBC’s Short Film Face-Off, and LIFE SUPPORT('19) which premiered at TIFF. She has directed episodes of KIM’S CONVENIENCE, WORKIN MOMS, MURDOCH MYSTERIES, THE 410, STRAYS, the Netflix original series GINNY & GEORGIA, and the HBOMax/CBC series SORT OF. She was also the pilot/series director for Bell Media’s CHILDREN RUIN EVERYTHING and CBC’s SON OF A CRITCH. She is the creator/showrunner of the digital series FIRST PERSON which screened at Canneseries ('20) and recently completed its Season 2. Renuka also wrote and directed, STAY THE NIGHT ('22), her first feature film, which World Premiered at the SXSW Film Festival. She has an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Toronto.
