Screenwriter and director, Louise Archambault’s first feature film Familia gained international sales and awards such as at TIFF and the Canadian Screen Awards. In addition to directing TV series La Galère, Nouvelle Adresse and This Life, Louise launched her 2nd film Gabrielle at the Locarno Film Festival (Audience Award). The film, selected to represent Canada at the Oscars and the Golden Globes in 2014, won many international prizes and was sold in more than 25 different territories. Louise was named Personality of the Year by La Presse/Ici Radio-Canada, arts and entertainment. Afterwards, she directed the tv series Trop and Catastrophe; the latter won the Best Scripted Format Award, at Cannes. In 2019, Louise released two feature films, Il pleuvait des oiseaux (And the Birds Rained Down), which won various awards, such as Canadian Screen Awards and Best Feature, Göteborg Film Fest.; and the comedy Merci pour tout (Thanks for everything) released during Christmas 2019. These films ranked 2nd and 3rd position in Canada’s box office. While directing the 2nd season of the tv series À Coeur Battant with Roy Dupuis for Radio-Canada, her recent feature Le temps d’un été (One Summer) was released in 2023, which ranked top 1 Canadian film at the box office, the best Canadian BO since 2019, all languages combined. For these successes and the humanity of her projects, she was named Personality of the Year 2023 in L’Actualité. Her latest film released in 2024, Irena’s Vow, a WW2 biopic shot in Poland, premiered at TIFF, won audience awards in festivals.
