TORONTO – The Directors Guild of Canada mourns the passing of Paul Bronfman, a visionary entrepreneur and steadfast champion of the Canadian film and television industry.

Paul Bronfman was more than an entrepreneur—he was a force of nature in our industry and he meant so much to the Guild and our Members. In 2011, he received the DGC Honourary Life Member Award for his industry-shaping, foundational work at William F. White, Comweb, and Pinewood Toronto Studios. He helped build infrastructure that supports Canadian film crews every day. His philanthropic work, involvement with organizations like the Canadian Film Centre and commitment to expanding infrastructure throughout our country has empowered Canadian creatives everywhere to pursue the work they love. He was a true friend of the industry.

In his support for emerging filmmakers and his outspoken disability advocacy, Paul was an icon of resiliency and perseverance. He was an inspiration for many of us to boldly move forward at all times. His impact on this industry is irreplaceable and he will be missed by so many.
