“On behalf of all DGC Members, I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the friends, family, colleagues and loved ones of DGC Director Neill Fearnley, who passed away this week.
Neill was not only a beloved member of the film & television community in Western Canada, but a ground-breaking talent for Canadian production on the whole.
Neill began his career directing on international hit series like 21 Jump Street and Wiseguy, going on to serve the Guild as DGC 1st Vice-President from 2010 to 2013 and receive nominations for – or win – multiple DGC Awards, Canadian Screen Awards, Leos and Emmys.
Neill’s filmography reads like a history of Canadian television from his very first jobs on the classic Canadian series Beachcombers and Danger Bay to directing and executive producing Hallmark’s 11-plus season breakout hit When Calls the Heart.
Neill will be missed, and his memory cherished. To all those who knew him, I offer the sympathies and support of all members of the Guild.”
