We are pleased and proud to announce the submissions form for the 23rd Annual DGC Awards is NOW OPEN. We also want to inform you of other key changes for this year.

As you’ve already heard from DGC President Warren Sonoda, we will not be holding a DGC Awards ceremony this year but we are still opening submissions with winners to be announced online in the fall.

In addition, working with Art Department caucus reps, we’ve restructured the production design categories to ensure our awards best reflect the nature of the Art Department’s work. This includes creating a new award for “Limited Budget” films – while reshuffling the remaining categories recognizing production design – and allowing members to incorporate supplemental materials into their submissions.

Going forward, the four Best Production Design awards will be recategorized as follows:

NEW  CATEGORY NAME

DRAMATIC SERIES & MINI-SERIES

COMEDY OR FAMILY SERIES & MINI-SERIES

Note: Productions with a budget below the top of the budget range for Tier C in the Standard Agreement qualify for consideration in the category Best Production Design – Film (Limited Budget). Those above Tier C qualify for Best Production Design – Film.

These changes and improvements will help ensure that we have another unprecedented year of diversity among our winners and nominees. Once again, we are striving to highlight a broad range of voices in our Guild and of course, DGC National will be reaching out to staff, our elected leadership, District Councils, caucuses and members to make sure the best in Canadian film & television are submitted. But that process starts with you!

The deadline for television submissions is approaching soon - on May 26th.

Please check out the submission deadlines and eligibility periods below and consult our simplified Submission Guide that will walk you step-by-step through the process to enter a DGC Member’s name for consideration.

REMINDER: In order to be eligible for the five Outstanding Directorial Achievement awards or any of the Key Craft Awards, including Best Picture Editing – Documentary, the qualifying production must either be a DGC Signatory Production or the DGC Members submitting must have received Dispensation to work on the production.

We thank you in advance for what we hope will be another record year for member participation. Canada has never produced so much exciting, quality content. We need your help to honour and recognize this exceptional bounty of good work.
