Joining The Alberta District Council
Thank you for your interest in joining the Directors Guild of Canada - Alberta District Council! In Alberta your level of membership depends on your experience. If you are an active Alberta Registered Permittee and have worked a minimum of 90 workdays on 3 different Alberta Signatory productions, you qualify for Membership.
If you are not an active Registered Permittee, your application will be evaluated to assess your level of relevant experience. You will need 150 workdays, and a minimum of 3 productions in a position equivalent to a category represented by the DGC Alberta. The same applies to those who are already a Member of another Guild/Union and wanting to become a Member of the Alberta DGC.
The Alberta District Council has two types of Membership:
Associate Membership - Production Assistant or Trainee job categories.
Full Membership - Job categories above a Production Assistant or Trainee.
HOW TO APPLY FOR MEMBERSHIP:
To determine if you have met the requirements for membership, please reach out to the ADC office (dgc@dgcalberta.ca) for your Work History Report (summary of your days worked). This will be reviewed to verify eligibility and dictate next steps.
- If you are not a Registered Permittee with 90 workdays on 3 Alberta Productions you likely do not qualify for Membership with the ADC and need to join the Registered Permittee program. Click here to review the steps to becoming a Registered Permittee.
- If you are a Member of another Union in Alberta, another Province, or with the DGA, please contact the ADC office.
Once it has been confirmed you are eligible for Membership, the ADC office will send you an email with the Membership Application and step-by-step instructions.
Membership Application Overview:
You will be sent a Step 1 and Step 2 email by our office, which will contain further instructions for enrolling online and all applicable documents.
