It's Never Been Easier to be DGC

On September 8th, the Directors Guild of Canada launched an NFB and Documentary Directors recruitment drive – waiving all initiation fees and offering 50% off annual dues through 2020 to all eligible Directors.

That's a savings of up to $3,500 for new members who take advantage of this opportunity!

Our Goal

Canadian filmmakers are unquestionably among the best in the world. From the CBC to the NFB, from international awards to the North America’s premiere documentary festival, Canadian documentaries have long distinguished themselves the world over.

The future for Canadian docs is equally bright. The advent of over-the-top streaming services has not only given Canadian creators unprecedented access to global markets, but spawned a whole new audience for documentary content.

And yet, despite all this, the life of documentary filmmakers in Canada is still far from easy. Complicating matters, many serve as their own producers or co-producers, making the employer/employee – or business counter party – relationship a murky one at best.

The Directors Guild of Canada believes, together, we can do better.
